The draft BS8442, which will replace the various parts of BS873 not themselves superseded by European Standards, contains a requirement that hinge plates be fitted to the back of the sign. |

The hinges are now riveted to the back of the sign plates, so now only the rivets and the centre of the hinge are visible from the front. Increased legibility of the signs is clearly the main advantage of the new design, and these changes now apply to all our newly manufactured temporary road signs. |
